Ecevit: We Will Understand Real Target Of Foundation Of Kurdish Parliament In Northern Iraq In Coming Days

ANKARA - Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent Ecevit said on Saturday, ''Turkey will never accept display of the Kurdish parliament which convened in Northern Iraq, as the parliament of a state. If they exceed the limits, Turkey will definitely take the necessary measures.''
Prime Minister Ecevit responded questions of journalists at Ankara's Esenboga Airport prior to his departure for Istanbul.
When asked whether or not the United States made a request for use of military bases in Turkey in a possible operation against Iraq, Prime Minister Ecevit said that the United States had not made such a request.
Responding another question about meeting of the Kurdish parliament in Northern Iraq, Prime Minister Ecevit said, ''on many occasions, we stressed that Turkey's attitude about the issue was clear. We will understand the real target of foundation of the Kurdish parliament in coming days. Turkey will never accept display of the Kurdish parliament which convened in Northern Iraq, as the parliament of a state. We are uneasy about the recent developments in the region. If they exceed the limits, Turkey will definitely take the necessary measures.''
