Annan: I Request Turkey And Greece To Extend Support

NEW YORK - United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan said late on Friday that efforts to find a solution to the Cyprus question would take time, and noted, ''both Turkey and Greece will play an important role in these efoorts, therefore, I request Turkey and Greece to extend support.''
Releasing a statement following his meeting with President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides, Annan said that a comprehensive solution would be reached with a complicated, integrated and legally binding compromise.
In his statement which was read out by his Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro de Soto, Annan said that two techical committees were decided to be formed, and said that works of these committes would concentrate on laws of the future partnership state.
Annan added that the United Nations would continue to assist the sides in the process of finding a solution to the Cyprus question.
