ROME - Turkey won four gold, two silver and a bronze medal in the first day of the 28th Men's and 5th Women's European Junior Weight-Lifting Championships which began in Rome on Thursday.
Nurcan Taylan of Turkey, competing in 48 kg women's event in the championship, won gold medal. Taylan lifted a total of 175 kg, 80 kg in snatch and 95 kg in clean and jerk, became the European Champion.
Ertan Ispara, competing in 56 kg men's event, lifted a total of 240 kg, 110 in snatch and 130 in clean and jerk, and became silver medalist.
Ahmet Gulcan, also competing in 56 kg men's event, lifted a total of 237.5 kg, 107.5 kg in snatch and 130 in clean and jerk, and ranked the third in the championships.
The championships will end on Sunday.
