Gurel: Turkey Wants To See Afghanistan In Unity And Integrity Without Making An Ethnic Discrimination

ANKARA - Training of Afghan diplomats continue in Turkey within the framework of the efforts to re-build Afghanistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sukru Sina Gurel, who addressed a ceremony held as a new training program started for 10 diplomats, pointed out that Turkey wants to see Afghanistan in unity and integrity without making ethnic discrimination.
Gurel said the training program of the Afghan diplomats would last till November 9, and that the diplomats earlier got training in March 11-May 11, 2002.
Gurel said Afghanistan overcame very big disasters, which a nation may meet in the recent 20 years, with the positive intelligence, courage and heroism of Afghan people.
Gurel said the stability atmosphere, which could be installed after long years, created an important opportunity to heal the wounds of Afghan nation and to make them reach the development level which they deserved.
Gurel said this opportunity should be evaluated by re-installing necessary basis, and acceleration of education which was interrupted. Gurel said Turkish nation was resolved to help Afghanistan within the scope of its facilities.
Gurel said that there were also Afghan Justice Ministry experts, irrigation experts, geologists, teachers and doctors on the plane which brought the Afghan diplomats to Turkey.
Gurel indicated that forming and maintaining a stable environment was the most vital condition of nations' developments. He also stated that forming relations with the entire world in line with national interest was very important for national security.
Stating that Turkey overtook the command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, Gurel said ''This aims to help Afghan national security forces. Our country wants to see Afghanistan in unity without any ethnic discriminations.''
Afghan Ambassador to Turkey Abdul Ghafoor Poya Faryabi, in his speech, thanked Turkey for its assistance, adding that the friendship which has its roots in the history would brighten up the futures of both countries.
Stating that his country went through a very difficult time and wars caused hardships to Afghan people, the Afghan ambassador said they would always remember with gratitude the help they received from several countries.
He said they needed the help of all friend countries including Turkey in order to restructure his nation. ''Our job will be very difficult if the friend countries fail to provide the assistance they promised at the conference in Tokyo,'' he added.
Faryabi stated that Turkey was a leader in the restructuring efforts in his country and that it also gave them 500,000 USD, which the Turkish government promised at the conference in Tokyo. He also said he was very pleased about the training of Afghan diplomats at the Turkish Foreign Ministry which is a well established institution.
