ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Omer Izgi said on Tuesday that he did not have any doubts that the parliamentarians would make the most appropriate decision for early elections.
Addressing the 21st Term 5th Legislative Year of the Parliamentary General Assembly, Izgi said democracy meant the nation's administrating itself.
Briefing about the election process, Izgi said new developments in Turkey and the world showed the parliament that some important political problems should be solved with the votes of the nation.
Izgi said the 21st Term Parliamentarians, who worked very much, and who reached an extremely honorable place in Turkish Parliamentary history, decided to present the things they have fulfilled to the decision of the nation.
''To this end, a decision had been taken on July 31 to hold elections on November 3, 2002. Rules regarded with General Elections began to operate as a requirement of this decision. Our nation and the political parties are getting prepared for elections. This will is the indication of our nation. Our nation will use its authority of sovereignty and send the new parliamentarians, who will represent them, to its Sublime Parliament,'' Izgi said.
Izgi said, ''I have no doubt that you will do the best for the early elections as the representatives of the nation during the 5th Legislative Year, which will last very short.''
