WASHINGTON - U.S. Treasury Department spokesman Tony Fratto has said that his government was encouraged by the growth of the Turkish economy beyond targeted figures.
Fratto told the A.A that U.S. Secretary of Treasury Paul O'Neill and State Minister in charge of economy Masum Turker had positive meetings on several economic topics and that they mainly focused on the Turkish economy's recent progress.
''We're encouraged by the growth of the Turkish economy. Both O'Neill and Turker stressed that it is important to continue economic program,'' he said.
Fratto also said that both government ministers agreed to continue cooperation in the cutting of financial sources of terrorism.
