ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Omer Izgi said on Tuesday that he decided not to call the parliament to convene in an extraordinary session before October 1.
Holding a press conference at the parliament, Izgi evaluated a petition submitted by a group of ''disgruntled'' deputies who want postponement of early elections.
Izgi said that he did not think it appropriate to recall the parliament before October 1, 2002 as it would not be an effort to produce any result due to the procedures in the by-laws and as deputies were busy with their election campaign in their electoral districts.
Izgi added that as a result of his evaluation, he decided not to call the parliament to convene in an extraordinary session.
