Nato's Four New Rapid Response Headquarters Put Into Service

BRUSSELS - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) stated on Tuesday that four new headquarters for the rapid response forces had been put into service. One of these headquarters takes place in Istanbul.
According to the SHAPE, there will be a total of five multinational rapid response headquarters under the command of Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Joseph W. Ralston. Each of these headquarters has the capacity and capabilities to command 60 thousand soldiers in case of an operation.
NATO has a headquarters in Rheindahlen, Germany, to command the rapid response forces for the target of peace keeping. This unit participated in the peace-keeping operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1995 and in Kosovo in 1999 under the command of Britain.
New headquarters take place in Munster, Germany; Milan, Italy; Valencia, Spain; and Istanbul, Turkey.
