ANKARA - The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) applied on Wednesday to the Office of Parliament Speaker and asked the Office to call the parliament for an extraordinary meeting on September 1, 2002.
The MHP wants the parliament to take a decision to hold general elections on November 3, 2002.
MHP group acting leader Koray Aydin, Ismail Kose and Mehmet Sandir presented the petition signed by 125 MHP deputies to the Office of Parliament Speaker.
In the petition, the MHP members said that a new and strong political formation could not be delayed due to current conditions.
The MHP members claimed that to this end, general elections should be held on November 3, 2002 and requested that the parliament should convene extraordinarily on September 1, 2002 to discuss this proposal.
