ANKARA - Parliamentary General Assembly will convene on Tuesday for the opening of 21st Term 5th Legislation Year.
The 21st Term Parliament, which recessed after taking a decision for early elections, will convene on October 1 at 15.00 local time at as a requirement of Constitution and Regulation.
The opening ceremony will start by Parliament Speaker Omer Izgi's laying wreath to the Ataturk Statue. Izgi will later deliver the opening speech.
In case initiatives to delay elections and make amendments to the election laws are not brought onto the agenda again, the Parliament will recess again till elections.
First of all, Consultation Board will be called for a meeting to take a decision for recess, and in case a compromise is reached, this decision will be presented to the approval of the General Assembly.
If an agreement could not be reached, the decision will be brought onto the agenda as a proposal, and will be voted.
The Parliament will re-convene at 15.00 local time five days after Higher Election Board (YSK) announces the absolute results of the general elections on November 3. The 22nd Term parliamentarians will take oath and start their term in office in this session.
The General Assembly, which will hold its first meeting under the temporary chairmanship of the eldest parliamentarian, will later give a break for the formation of Chairmanship Council.
With a latest amendment made to the Constitution, Chairmanship Council will be briefed about the candidates for Parliament Speakership and the election will take place in five days after announcement of the names of candidates.
