LEFKOSA - TRNC President Rauf Denktas said on Wednesday that if the EU does not interfere with Cyprus issue, Turkish Cypriots can have a better bargaining process on equal terms with Greek Cypriots.
EU negatively affects the direct talks in Cyprus as it tells Greek Cypriots that ''whether you reach an agreement or not, you will join the EU,'' said Denktas and noted that there is no other country in the world which deprives one fourth of its population of its constitutional rights which tries to get rid of it and which seizes all of its rights telling that it has a different language and religion.
Denktas said that the attitude of the EU which does not take into consideration the incidents in Cyprus, the rights of Turkey in Cyprus stemming from international agreements and Turkish Cypriots is not in line with being European and European civilization, rights and justice.
''Now EU postpones to discuss the membership of Cyprus and Turkey telling that they don't want to negatively effect the elections in Turkey. They will implement a programme to put pressure on Turkey till the end of the year,'' Denktas commented.
