ISTANBUL - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal has left for Austria on Monday.
Upon a question concerning the initiatives for reducing electoral threshold, Baykal told reporters at the airport before his departure that some people worked to overthrow the government at first and then to postpone the elections. He added that those people now tried to change the thresholds.
Baykal said that it was contrary to Constitution to try to make law changes which would affect the elections radically and he added that decisions had been made so far by considering threshold and alliance articles of Election Law.
CHP leader Baykal said that elections process had started and it was illogical to change the rules in the middle of the game. He added that it was contrary to law, logic and common sense to go for elections by changing threshold and alliance articles.
Baykal who will attend European Economy Forum held in Salzburg city of Austria, said that they would discuss problems brought by globalism in the meeting and state officials and politicians from various countries would attend the meeting.
