ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Tuesday sent a message to U.S President George W. Bush on the first annivesary of September 11th terrorist attacks.
Presidential Press Center issued a statement and said Sezer sent a message to the U.S. President Bush in which he stated that Turkish people, who had faced the destructive effects of terrorism, empathized and sincerely shared the deep sorrow that the friendly American people had been going through after the September 11th terrorist attacks that targeted innocent people and caused worldwide hatred.
In his message Sezer said, ''on the commemoration of these terrosit attacks that hit Washington and New York last year on September 11, on behalf of Turkish nation and myself, I would like to convey to the people of the United States our sentiments of support and solidarity.''
''Those attacks once again proved that fight against terrorism, which threatens whole humanity, can only be achievable through an efficient international collaboration. Turkey, which has always stressed the necessity of an international cooperation in order to strengthen cooperation, will continue its cooperation and solidarity with the friendly United States to eradicate terrorism and human rights violations caused by terrorism,'' the message said.
''Mr. President, I avail myself of this opportunity to denounce these attacks and I would like to extend my best wishes for the happiness of Your Excellency and fellow American people,'' the message said.
