LIVANELI TO MEDIATE BETWEEN BAYKAL AND CEM
Zulfu Livaneli, a famous singer from the Republican People's Party (CHP), will act as a mediator between CHP leader Deniz Baykal and New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem. Meanwhile, Baykal called on Cem to unite with the CHP till Wednesday. Cem responded Baykal's proposal, saying, ''CHP can enter the elections in 40 provinces and YTP can enter the elections in remaining 40 provinces.''

OPEN UNIVERSITY EXAMS CANCELLED
Open University exams held with the participation of nearly 450 thousand people were cancelled after question sheets were stolen in eastern province of Malatya. Security forces detained four people within the framework of the investigation. Anadolu University Rector Prof. Dr. Engin Atac said that they decided to cancel the exams following the incident. The exams will be resumed in October.

SOLDIER FINDS SOLUTION
It was revealed that Local Languages School which was established within the structure of the Gendarmerie Forces, had been teaching local languages including Kurdish for 11 years. National Education Ministry has been looking for teachers to teach Kurdish after approval of the law envisaging education and broadcasting in Kurdish. The ministry held contacts with Supreme Board of Radio and Televisions (RTUK), the Radio and Television Corp. (TRT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and universities. However, its efforts did not yield any result. Later, it was revealed that there had been a school in the Gendarmerie Forces Command teaching local languages.

DEVIL RETURNS
Satanists who have remained silent for a long time since suicide of Lara Falay from the Uskudar American High School, have started their activities again prior to beginning of new education semester. Satanists have been searching for new adherents with their web-site ''www.metal-militan.8k.com''. School officials warned families of students against such groups.

SHOCK IN MHP
Many leading names of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) who could not take place on top of electoral lists of their political party, were offended. Parliament Speaker Omer Izgi who was ranked 11th in the electoral list of the MHP for Konya province, is expected to resign. Meanwhile, Nesrin Unal, a deputy of the MHP from Antalya, will announce her decision to resign from the MHP.

HADEP MEMBERS PROTEST PRIME MINISTER ECEVIT
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit addressed people in eastern province of Van within the framework of the election campaign. Supporters of the People's Democracy Party (HADEP) protested Prime Minister Ecevit by chanting slogans.

MY LAST BREATH IS FOR TURKEY
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said, ''various games were played and are being played to prevent Democratic Left Party (DSP) and to isolate me. I will do my best to save Turkey till my last breath.''
Ecevit said during the 3,5 years period of their government, they issued many laws that were appreciated by the world, stressing that they would issue new laws, in the form of reform, when they come to the ruling again.

EYES TURN TO PROSECUTOR FOR ERDOGAN
Following decision of Diyarbakir State Security Court (DGM) no:4 to clear off Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan's record of convictions, eyes turned to Diyarbakir DGM Chief Prosecutor Saban Erturk.
Even if decision of DGM becomes definite, two decisions of the High Election Board, regarding those who were earlier convicted of Article 312, and a provision of Judicial Record Law, constitute an obstacle in front of Erdogan.

RADIKAL (LEFT)

LET US MAKE COOPERATION IN ELECTIONS
New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem responded to the proposal of Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal which said ''I want to see Cem in CHP list''. Cem gave a response with ''cooperation in elections'' mode.
Cem said, ''a party should enter elections in 41 provinces for the continuation of its legal body. There are 81 provinces. A party will withdraw from elections in 40 provinces, and the other party will withdraw from elections in the other 40 provinces. Each party will make a call to its voters to cast votes in favor of the other party. Thus, both parties will pass the threshold and enter the Parliament.''

YILMAZ LOOKS FOR WAY OUT
The Motherland Party (ANAP) leader Mesut Yilmaz said they were ready to make every kind of cooperation, including alliance, with the True Path Party (DYP).
It was reported that Mesut Yilmaz, leader of the Motherland Party (ANAP), sent a message to True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller through Eyup Asik and told her to forget the past and make cooperation for the future of Turkey.
Yilmaz also proposed a change in election laws by setting up a government against political uncertainty that may appear after November 3 elections.
Ciller said as the DYP they could not be involved in postponement of elections at this stage. However, Ciller noted they would evaluate the proposal in case any initiative, apart from them, postpones the elections.

TURKIYE (RIGHT)

WORLD BANK TO INCREASE ITS AID
Incidents, which broke out following the crisis experienced in Argentina, continue to frighten World Bank. The bank officials, who accepted that most of the Turkish people lost income because of the economic policy implemented for two years, will send five billion U.S. dollars for social purposes and to decrease poverty. The credit will be released in autumn.

FIRST ALLIANCE IN THE RIGHT
True Path Party (DYP) and Bright Turkey Party (ATP) shook hands in the right after the unification in the left. DYP leader Tansu Ciller said, ''central right should unite and add momentum to Turkey.''
ATP leader Tugrul Turkes said, ''Turkey needs unity and integrity. We will make cooperation with DYP in this respect.''

ZAMAN (CONSERVATIVE)

13,000 VEHICLES SOLD IN AUGUST
Decrease continue in number of cars and commercial vehicles sold in Turkey, which entered to the atmosphere of elections.
Number of sales, which was worse than the figures of last year, was mostly influential in vehicles made in Turkey.
A total of 8, 168 automobiles were sold in August, and only 2,133 of them were from the models produced in Turkey.
It was reported that 84, 585 vehicles were sold in the first eight months of the year.
