ANKARA - Deputy Parliament Speaker Murat Sokmenoglu said on Friday that Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Massoud Barzani, went too far daring to threaten Turkish Republic, and he should be given necessary response he deserves.
Sokmenoglu issued a written statement and said more realistic approaches should be applied on such mentalities who does not deserve diplomatic passport of the Turkish Republic.
Accusing Barzani of being the player of a new scenario, Sokmenoglu said, ''it is clear that Barzani went too far by daring to threaten Turkish Republic, and also undertook writing of a dangerous scenario that would be set up in Turkey.''
Pointing out that Barzani felt respect for terrorist PKK organization, Sokmenoglu said the statement ''we don't interfere to each other's affairs'' brought a new claim.
Sokmenoglu said, ''the response should come from the Parliament and from the border, like Gen. Atilla Ates made, to such a thoughtless tribe leader.''
Sokmenoglu said tens of thousands of Turkish youth should not pay for the cost of keeping silent toward the de facto establishment of a state structure in Northern Iraq with all aspects during a U.S. operation on Iraq.
''Under the light of those realities, hasn't time came for Ankara to announce that this would pay the ways for an autonomous Turkmen region, that will include Kirkuk, in the belt extending from Telafer to Mendeli. Creating an impression as if there is a difference between the Foreign Ministry and National Defense, and acting basing on grapevine telegraph will have very big damages on Turkey,'' Sokmenoglu said.
