ISTANBUL - Health Minister Osman Durmus left on Friday for Iraq as the official guest of his Iraqi counterpart Umid Midhat Mubarak.
Prior to his departure, Durmus told reporters that he would exchange views about bilateral, regional and international health problems with Mubarak and plan cooperation in health with Iraq.
Durmus said that he would visit some health institutions and that he was accompanied by an otorhinolaryngologist, a general surgeon, a cardiologist, a gastroenterologist and a pediatrist, and representatives of medicine and medical equipment companies during his visit.
He would attend Health Products Fair organized as a part of the Second Turkish-Iraqi Health Week, Durmus noted.
Durmus said, ''the fair is important for promotion of our medicine and medical equipment. I believe that our increasing cooperation in health will add a new momentum to our commercial relations.''
''Also, our doctors will share their knowledge and experience with their Iraqi colleagues,'' he noted.
Durmus added that he would meet with Iraqi Vice President Taha Yasin Ramadan, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hikmat Mizban al-Azzawi, Minister of Oil Amir Rashid Muhammad al-Ubaydi, Minister of Housing and Reconstruction Abdallah al-Sarsam.
