INDIANAPOLIS - State Minister in charge of Sports Erdogan Toprak came to the United States on Thursday to support Turkish national basketball team which will attend 14th World Men Basketball Championship in Indianapolis for the first time.
Toprak who came to Indianapolis together with Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Ertugrul Ciragan and Youth and Sport General Director Kemal Mutlu told the A.A that they had great expectations from the Turkish national team and that they expected the team to be the world champion.
Toprak also said that Turkish young people are lucky as they have a basketball team that played in the finals of the European Championship, a football team that came third in the World Cup, a European champion athlete and world champion wrestlers, as role models.
State Minister Toprak stated that organizations which sponsor sports events should benefit from tax deduction and remarked that sports federations also had important responsibilities.
