Bahceli: I Don't Agree With Ecevit's Assesments On A.K.P. And H.A.D.E.P.

ANKARA - Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli has said that he didn't agree with Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit's remarks that a regime problem would occur if the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the People's Democratic Party (HADEP).
''In Turkey, political formations should be able to reach a certain point if they have people's support,'' Bahceli said.
When asked if he would form a coalition with the AKP if they come to power after Nov. 3, Bahceli said that it was too early to discuss this matter. ''We'll do whatever is good for our country,'' he said.
''Political groups that are formed under the Constitution and Political Parties law should be able to come to the point they deserve if they have people's support,'' he said.
When asked what the MHP thought of the HADEP, Bahceli said that the HADEP has an ongoing trial at the Constitutional Court. ''We should wait for the results of this trial,'' he said.
Bahceli added that his party definitely cannot accept any formation that would damage Turkey's unity regardless of which party it is.
About the headscarf issue, Bahceli said this is an issue abused by politics. ''Creating a conflict between secularits and anti-secularists would and causing tension among people would not do any good to anyone,'' he said.
About the Kurdish issue, Bahceli said that the formation of a Kurdish state in Northern Iraq would lead to the activation of the PKK and this would trouble Turkey. Commenting on the Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party Massoud Barzani's remarks about a Kurdish state, Bahceli said ''he should know his limits.''
