LEFKOSA - Rauf Denktas, the President of the Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Tuesday that Paris meeting was an evaluation stage, stressing that, ''nobody can make surprise to us''.
Denktas responded to the questions of reporters following his tete-a-tete meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides within the framework of sixth round of talks.
When asked if Paris meeting or a solution proposal was brought onto the agenda, Denktas said, ''no proposal is brought onto the agenda. We will make an evaluation together.''
Speaking about the workings carried out under the leadership of Britain's Cyprus Special Envoy Lord David Hannay, Denktas said it was natural for them to hold their own work as a side which wanted to help, yet noted that, ''however, it will not effect us. I mean nobody can make us surprise. We don't want surprise.''
When asked about his expectations from Paris summit, Denktas said, ''this is an evaluation stage. We will evaluate what can be done as everybody expects a result by the end of the year.''
Denktas said statements of the Greek Cypriots that, ''there is Cyprus Republic, will exist, and that any agreement will be settled on this basis'' did not give much hope.
Denktas said the talks would continue on Friday. When recalled that there were celebrations to mark August 30 on Friday, Denktas said a new date could be set for talks.
