IZMIR - Izmir Mayor Ahmet Piristina said on Saturday, ''a total of 962 firms including 332 foreign companies, will take part in the 71st International Izmir Fair which will be opened on August 26.''
Holding a press conference, Pristina said that 68 countries would be represented in the fair.
Noting that he had invited Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit to attend the opening of the fair, Pristina said, ''Prime Minister Ecevit cannot attend the opening due to a farewell ceremony to be held for General Staff Chief General Huseyin Kivrikoglu prior to his retirement. However, he pledged us to visit the fair.''
Pristina told reporters that Bosnia-Herzegovina would be the honorary guest of this year's fair.
He added that the fair would make an important contribution to efforts aiming at further improving commercial relations between Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
