ADIYAMAN - Syrian Irrigation Minister M. Ridwan Martini said on Friday that the United States and all countries should respect territorial integrity of Iraq.
Martini, during his visit to Adiyaman Deputy Mayor Mestan Yayvan, responded the questions of reporters and stated that they did not want the United States to stage an operation against Iraq.
Stressing that they shared similar views with the regional countries, Martini said a U.S. operation against Iraq would cause current problems of the region to increase and noted that they expected Turkey to show necessary sensitivity in this respect.
Martini defended that no country, including the United States, has the right to damage Iraq's territorial integrity.
Expressing pleasure over improving relations between Turkey and Syria, Martini pointed out that reciprocal visits were important for improvement and strengthening of relations. He said they wanted to further improve relations with Turkey.
Martini said businessmen from Turkey make investments in Syria and set up factories, stressing that this development was an example showing that relations improved between the two countries.
