ISTANBUL - Toyota Automotive Industry Turkey Inc. started on Thursday to produce Corolla Station Wagon models in Adapazari factory.
A statement of Toyota Automotive Industry Turkey said that 17 thousand Corolla Sedan models were exported since February 2002.
The statement stressed that Toyota Automotive, which was the third biggest automotive exporter by the end of July, would strengthen its current position as Station Wagon models were started to be produced in Adapazari factory.
The company would export 12 thousand Station Wagon models and 28 thousand Corolla Sedan models to 25 countries, including 22 European countries, at the end of the financial year which would end on March 31, 2003, the statement noted.
The statement pointed out that the new model would start to be produced in 2004 and thus, the amount of investments in the factory in Adapazari province would increase to 750 million Euro.
Sources said that Toyota Corolla was also produced in Burnaston, Britain. Toyota Yaris is being produced in Valenciennes, France while Toyota Avensis is produced in Burnaston, Britain.
The share of Toyota in European market is around 4.4 percent. It has sold more than 120 thousand Toyota Corolla models in Europe in the first seven months of this year.
