ANKARA - State Planning Organization (DPT) stated that the perception of uncertainty in June and July decreased the debt term structure of the Treasury auctions in this period.
In DPT's monthly evaluation, it was remembered that the tendency of decrease in January-May period in Treasury auction interest rates left its place to the tendency of increase in June and July.
According to the evaluation, Treasury auction monthly average compound interests which was 56.6 percent in May, increased to 72.1 percent in June and July.
The term structure which was in 265-day level in May period, dropped down to 208 and 201 days in June and July respectively.
Interest rate in the first 7 months of this year fell compared to last year.
According to the evaluation, the decrease in the exchange rates that started in January this year, continued till May and from that period on, the trend which made a reverse change caused TL to lose its real value.
Thus the real rate index which was 102 points in May, dropped down to 92.1 points in June and 84.9 points in July.
TL lost its value by 17.3 percent against foreign exchange basket (1 dollar+1.5 euro) in the last 3 months period.
According to DTP, the increase in public prices and foreign exchange rates together with the 4.3 percent increase in the manufacturing industry sector prices and 5.4 percent price increase in mining sector became effective in the 2.7 percent rise in the increase rate of wholesale prices (TEFE) in July.
The decrease tendency in the increase rate of consumer prices (TUFE) beginning from February 2002 continued in July and remained under the expectations of market and programme target.
