LAST SCREAM: BREAKS DON'T WORK
The passenger bus, carrying those who participated in ceremonies held to commemorate Haci Bektas Veli, overturned near Pozanti on TEM motorway.
It was reported that the driver caused the accident when he created panic in the bus by screaming ''our breaks don't work''.
A total of 33 people died and 38 others were injured in the accident.
Meanwhile, nine people were injured in another accident which happened when people in another bus engulfed in panic after seeing the other accident.
This bus also could not stop and overturned. Nine other vehicles also made chain accident.

SUPRISE SUPPORT FROM EUROPE
German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who did not give an appointment to Deniz Baykal, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), will meet New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem on Wednesday.
The foreign ministers of 15 European Union (EU) countries will be in Turkey as election support to Cem. This is a European support which was not seen before.

DERVIS NOT PUT ON BADGE IMMEDIATELY
Ari Group leader Kemal Koprulu is one of the persons who have influence on Kemal Dervis's decisions. About cooperation with the Republican People's Party (CHP), he says, ''Dervis did not say that he has joined the CHP. Three important factors like staff, programme and sine qua non principles should come together for Dervis's participation in CHP.'' Koprulu said Dervis would continue to seek unity among the leftist parties until September 11. He said, ''I hope that CHP leader Deniz Baykal would act in the same way. Relations with other parties should not end.'' When asked whether or not Dervis would return to university, Koprulu said, ''let's wait until next week.''

''COME, LET'S WALK TOGETHER''
CHP leader Deniz Baykal defined discussions on alliance-accession as an ''effort to keep Kemal Dervis away from the CHP''. Baykal said today's meeting with Dervis would not be a ''bargaining'' but a ''joint work''. He said, ''we don't discriminate anybody. We expect also the New Turkey Party (YTP) and Democratic Left Party (DSP) to join the great march we have started.''

THEY DISSUADE KEMAL
Deniz Baykal, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) said there are still efforts to dissuade Kemal from the path of CHP, ''this is a shame, not pleasant.''
When asked if there was problem on issue of Dervis, Baykal said, ''some circles tried to control Kemal. Everybody saw that it did not work. Dervis did what is right. However, there are still efforts to dissuade Kemal.''
Responding to a question which said, ''will those efforts, which aim to dissuade Dervis, work,'' Baykal said, ''Kemal is a serious person. He knows what he does. You will see everything will calm down after 3-5 days. We will work very well with Kemal.''

KADEK MILITANTS INFILTRATE TURKEY
KADEK had withdrawn its militants in Turkey to Northern Iraq after the capture of Abdullah Ocalan, the head of the terrorist organization. However, it was reported that the militants began to infiltrate from Iraqi borders again. Lately, a group of 30 people were reported to enter the country from eastern Igdir and Agri Provinces.
Reports prepared by Turkish security units reveal that the militants gathered in those regions under the name of, ''state decision meeting''.
The reason of their infiltrating to Turkey is shown as the probability of Turkey's operation against their camps in Northern Iraq during probable U.S. operation against Iraq.

CRITICISM FROM CEM: UGLY POLICY IS BEING MADE
New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem accused the parties of not knowing anything but the arguments, and using ugly policy methods.
Pointing out that Turkey would make a choice between the old and the new on November 3, Cem said, ''shall we continue with the parties whom we always know?''

BAYKAL: AKP AND CHP TO WIN ELECTIONS
CHP leader Deniz Baykal said a general elimination would be experienced on November 3, stressing that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will enter the parliament as the first party in the right, and CHP will enter the parliament as the first party in the left after elections.
CHP leader Baykal said ANAP will be wiped away, noting that he id not have any enmity toward future. Baykal called on those who resigned from CHP to return and accept the identity of CHP.
Pointing out that the business world began to understand CHP, Baykal said, ''we know each other with Dervis. Those whose plans were disrupted, try to dissuade Dervis. Dervis will coordinate economy if we come to ruling. There is not a super ministry. Southeast will be a part of Turkey policy.''

CRITICAL BARGAINING IN ANKARA
Kemal Dervis who went separate ways with New Turkey Party (YTP) and pointed the Republican People's Party (CHP) for an alliance among the leftist parties will clarify his decision on whether or not he will take part in politics after his today's meeting with CHP leader Deniz Baykal.

PRETENTIOUS TARGET OF TURKEY
Turkey included pretentious targets in the ''Pre-Accession Economic Programme for 2002-2005'' it will present to the European Union (EU). Under the programme, Turkey which is expected to grow by three percent this year will have a 5.2 percent average annual growth rate and the inflation rate will decrease to eight percent at the end of 2005. According to the programme, the national income per capita which is expected to be 2,630 U.S. dollars this year will increase to 3,125 U.S. dollars in 2005.

CRITICAL WEEK
Big difficulties began to happen in the parties with the decision for early elections. Eyes turned to the political developments which will develop in Ankara today.
Kemal Dervis, who turned his route to Republican People's Party (CHP), will meet CHP leader Deniz Baykal on Monday and evaluate works regarding unity in the left. Nine parliamentarians are expected to resign from the Democratic Left Party (DSP) this week. It was also reported that some names in New Turkey Party (YTP), who are close to Dervis, are expected to evaluate their situation.

QUAKE MEASURING 4.7 SHAKES ERZURUM
An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale rocked eastern Erzurum province on Sunday. Officials of Bogazici University Seismology Institute Kandilli Observatory Center said that the epicenter of the earthquake which was recorded at 2.52 p.m. was 15 kilometers northeast of Senkaya village of Erzurum. There were not any casualties according to preliminary reports.
The quake was also felt in Olur township of Erzurum, Ardahan and Cildir township.

2,000 GHOST BUILDINGS
Two thousand ''ghost buildings'' which suffered serious damage in August 17 devastating earthquake in Marmara still cannot be destroyed due to court decisions. While the Public Works and Settlement Ministry want those buildings to be destroyed, experts advise courts that those buildings can be repaired and people can settle in them again.'' One of those buildings collapsed last night. There was not any casualties. However, people are still living in some of those buildings. Avcilar Deputy Mayor Fikret Konya announced that there were nearly twenty buildings which suffered serious damage in the quake but could not be destroyed due to court decisions. Meanwhile, there are more than thirty-five thousand such buildings in Sakarya and Kocaeli.
