U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Collins Meets With Isaf Commander Zorlu

KABUL - U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Joey Collins met on Sunday with International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander General Hilmi Akin Zorlu.
Security in Afghanistan, and formation of national army and national police force were taken up at the meeting.
Zorlu pointed to the necessity that assistance to Afghanistan should cover economic, military and political fields. He said that salaries of Afghan soldiers had not been paid for a long time and noted that this prevented the soldiers from efficiently fulfilling their duties.
General Zorlu stated that assistance made by countries that had promised to find a permanent solution to security problem in Afghanistan would help strengthening of the interim government.
Collins said that the countries that had promised to help Afghanistan during Geneva and Tokyo meetings had to keep their words.
