ANKARA - Former State Minister Kemal Dervis met on Friday with Suleyman Celebi, the Chairman of Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Union (DISK).
Following the meeting, Celebi said, ''if the sensitivity shown by Ismail Cem about an alliance with Democrat Turkey Party (DTP) had also been shown for an alliance in the left, these developments would have never occured.''
Celebi noted that Dervis and he were working for a unity in the left and that other formations saying that they were in the left wing should also show a similar sensitivity.
Nobody was discussing leftist identity of New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem, Celebi stated.
Celebi stressed that having a leftist identity in individual sense did not solve the problem and noted, ''if the sensitivity shown by Ismail Cem about an alliance with Democrat Turkey Party (DTP) had also been shown for an alliance in the left, these developments would have never occured.''
Defining Cem's approach as ''closed to a leftist union'', Celebi said that this would not help solution of division in the left.
Asked if CHP was the party under which the left should be united according to DISK, Celebi said, ''a union can be made under this umbrella.''
