DERVIS:GIVE ME TWO MORE DAYS
Kemal Dervis who resigned from state ministry on Saturday asked New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem and YTP deputy Husamettin Ozkan to give him two more days in order to continue trying to unite the central left parties. Dervis told Cem and Ozkan who want him to join YTP as soon as possible that he wanted to try forming an alliance among leftist parties for the last time. ''I don't want any votes cast for central leftist parties to be in vain,'' told Dervis to Cem and Ozkan.

ATHLETE SUREYYA AYDIN BECOMES EUROPEAN CHAMPION
Sureyya Aydýn, 23, won gold medal in women's 1500 metres final at the 18th European athletics championships yesterday. Aydýn completed 1500 metres in three minutes 58.79 seconds, bringing Turkey its first gold medal at the European athletics championships. Aydýn was followed by Gabriela Szabo (Romania) with 3:58.81 seconds and Tatyana Tomashova (Russia) with 4:01.28 seconds.

WE ARE GETTING LATE MR. DERVIS!
Husamettin Ozkan, New Turkey Party deputy told Kemal Dervis yesterday that ''we have only three months to the early elections. You must join our party immediately and we must work together.'' Dervis met with YTP leader Ismail Cem and Ozkan in Istanbul yesterday. Dervis told them that it was very important to ensure unity in central left. ''I should not join any party in order to continue my efforts to this end. However, YTP is very important for me,'' he said.

TURKISH ARMY BUYS 54 HARPY AIRCRAFT FROM ISRAEL
Turkish army bought 54 HARPY aircraft from Israel. This aircraft with bombs hits the enemy target and destroys it. The aircraft which don't have pilots have a range of 400-500 kilometers and can carry 23 kg bomb. It can fly non-stop for two months and hit missile installations and enemy's air defense radars and destroy them.

OCALAN'S VAIN DREAM
Abdullah Ocalan, the head terrorist told Italian La Repubblica newspaper that he would return to Italy one day and do politics there where he was earlier pursued. Head terrorist seems very happy as death penalty in Turkey has been abolished. ''I felt that I would not be executed, I believe in my senses. Even my lawyers didn't believe that death penalty would be abolished in Turkey, but I believed that,'' he said.

NO CONCESSION FROM ECONOMIC PROGRAMME
Masum Turker who was appointed as State Minister in charge of economy held a news conference yesterday and said that the economic programme would continue to be implemented with resolution and without giving any concessions. Turker underlined that state ministry in charge of economy is very important for Turkey, adding that he came together with economy bureaucrats after he was appointed to this post on Saturday and on Sunday. He remarked that they reviewed all issues and the things that have to be done in order to prevent any defect in implementation of the economic programme in the meetings.

PARTIES REACT TO ACCUSATIONS OF BAHCELI
Democratic Left Party (DSP) Secretary General Suleyman Yagýz said that the words of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli who claimed that six political parties support terrorist organization, were not proper as Bahceli was the deputy prime minister of the government which captured Abdullah Ocalan, the head terrorist. DSP deputy group leader Aydýn Tumen said that the words of Bahceli insulted the parliament. Tourism Minister Mustafa Tasar who is from Motherland Party (ANAP) said that he wanted to consider the words of Bahceli as words which he didn't in fact want to say.

STUDENT FAMILIES IN BAD STRAITS
Schools will be opened in fall. According to the report prepared by Teachers Labour Union, (Egitim-Sen) at least 160 million TL is needed to meet the book, stationery, and food needs of a student who will start primary school this year. The needs of a high school student reached 333 million liras on the other hand.

NO CONCESSIONS FROM ECONOMIC PROGRAMME
New State Minister in charge of Treasury Masum Turker said in a news conference yesterday that no concessions would be given from the economic programme. Commenting that the economic programme didn't have a political figure behind it to date, Turker said that ''I will assume this political responsibility from now on.'' Turker said that they will try to ensure price stability as this is the first condition of economic growth and they will try to convene the Production and Financial Consultation Council to support real economy.

KURDISH PROPAGANDA FORBIDDEN
Higher Board of Election (YSK) prohibited making propaganda in languages other than Turkish for the Nov. 3 elections. Those who break the rule can be imprisoned up to one year and radio and tv channels which broadcast such propaganda will be closed.

MUMCU ACCUSES THOSE WHO PLAN TO FORM ELECTION ALLIANCES
Erkan Mumcu, former Tourism Minister and a deputy from the Motherland Party (ANAP) said that political parties should not form election alliances. Mumcu also accused party leaders and the limited number of persons around them of turning the parties into their puppets. Mumcu claimed that forming alliance meant sabotaging democracy, and hurting the regime and peace of the country.

''TOURISM DEVELOPED BY OZAL''
Tourism Minister Mustafa Tasar who is from Motherland Party (ANAP) said in a news conference assessing his one-year in office that the first golden period in tourism sector came out when ex-president Turgut Ozal was the prime minister. ''We started the second tourism period and we determined the goals of tourism sector for the 21st century,'' he said. The tourism minister said that the number of tourists increased by 1,15 million compared to last year and the tourism revenues reached 12 billion 400 million USD. Tasar stated that next year, he was planning to draw 13 million tourists and 13 billion USD tourism revenues. He said that Turkey was not a cheap tourism country and spendings of an average tourist increased to 823 USD, which is the eighth highest amount in the world.
