T.A.D.F. Starts Initiative To Declare Oct. 29 Turkish Republic Day In U.S.

NEW YORK (A.A) - 12.08.2002 - Federation of Turkish American Associations (TADF) started an initiative to declare October 29 as the Turkish Republic Day in the U.S.
TADF officials sent a letter to all states' governors in the U.S. and requested them to declare October 29 as ''Turkish Republic Day'' in their states.
TADF officials said on Monday that they started to receive positive responses to their letters from many states, calling Turkish citizens living in the U.S. to support the initiative by sending letters to the governors of the states where they live.
American politicians who are known to be sensitive to the demands coming from their own election districts, won't stay indifferent to this initiative.
Meanwhile ''Turkish Days'' decided to be organized in Indianapolis for Turkish Basketball National Team which will compete in the World Basketball Championship in the same state at the end of August.
Turkey will be promoted and many samples from Turkish kitchen will also be presented during the Turkish Days that will be organized by TADF and Turkish Consulate General in Chicago in big hotels of Indianapolis. An open air concert will also be held at the biggest park of Indianapolis on August 31.
