Masum Turker To Replace Dervis

ANKARA (A.A) - 10.08.2002 - A decree proposing to appoint Democratic Left Party (DSP) Istanbul deputy Masum Turker to replace Kemal Dervis who announced his resignation on Saturday morning was sent to the Presidency.
Prime Ministry Press Advisor Cem Avci said that Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit had spoken with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and the president had approved the decision.
Turker who was born in Mardin in 1951 graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Communications. He worked as a financial consultant. He served as the Turkish Financial Consultants Chambers Union (TURMOB) Deputy Chairman, International Federation of Accountants' Committee (IFAC) member, Turkey Accounting Experts Association Chairman, and Newspaper Owners Association Chairman. He also worked as a lecturer at Gazi University's Bolu Faculty of Administrative Sciences.
He wrote articles for Yeni Yuzyil newspaper and was the editor in chief of Nokta magazine.
Turker is married and has two children. He speaks English and Arabic.
