OYA UNLU RESIGNS TO RUN CANDIDACY FOR DEPUTYSHIP
Oya Unlu resigned from her post as Prime Ministry Chief Consultancy, and said, ''wherever Dervis is, I will be there.'' It was reported that Unlu will join New Turkey Party (YTP) within a few days together with Kemal Dervis, and be a candidate.
Resignation of Unlu was the signal that State Minister for Economy Kemal Dervis will enter to politics.
Unlu did not respond to the questions whether or not she will enter the politics, however it was reported that she will join YTP within a few days with Dervis and run her candidacy.
FULL CONTROL IN NORTHERN IRAQ
Turkey took activity in Northern Iraq under tighter control. Bamerni Airport near Dohuk is totally under the control of Turkish soldiers.
As Turkey takes under control the strategic Bamerni Airport, it was revealed that the United States took under control the two airports which remained from the Saddam period. The GCA and TACAN electronic systems, which control landings and departures to those airports were brought from Turkey.
It was claimed that there were special units within the Turkish military existence in Northern Iraq. It was also reported that Turkey set up security and intelligence evaluation centers in transition points in northern and southern parts of Northern Iraq.
Officials said the Bamerni Airport, which is in the region that is under the control of KDP leader Massoud Barzani, has been controlled since 1995 with intervals, however that electronic systems devices were installed after the United States mentioned the probable war rather frequently recently.

FIRST ALLIANCE: YTP+DTP
New Democracy Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem and Democrat Turkey Party (DTP) leader Mehmet Ali Bayar agreed to make cooperation in elections. Authorized boards of the parties will decide under which roof the alliance will be.
Two parties, which take place in opposite wings of the center, for the first time in Republican history decided to make cooperation ''before and after the elections''.
Cem and Bayar, who met on Thursday, issued a joint statement after the meeting and said they decided to discuss the alliance agreement in authorized boards of the parties. Pointing out that the talks between the two parties reached a specific stage, Cem said this stage will be discussed at the authorized boards of the parties.
Bayar said talks between the two parties, both of which share Turkey's new policy and the same excitement to find a solution to Turkey's problems, came to a new stage. He said they would search for facilities to make cooperation, adding that they would bring those ideas to the authorized boards of the parties in a short time.
Bayar said, ''this means calling for authority from the authorized boards for the two parties to act together before and after the elections by preserving political identities, institutional identities and existence of the parties. This is a requirement of politics, and they are the decision organs. We will carry out a joint work on this.''
IMF CREDIT TO BE IN TURKEY ON AUGUST 12
Treasury Undersecretariat said almost 1.1 billion U.S. dollars of loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would be deposited to accounts on August 12, 2002.
A statement of Treasury Undersecretariat said that IMF Executive Board approved the third review of the Stand-by agreement in its Wednesday's meeting.
The statement added that the third tranche of the loan worth of 1.1 billion U.S. dollars released by the IMF would be deposited to accounts on August 12, 2002.

DEMIREL OPERATION
Former President Suleyman Demirel, who had set up the first left-right coalition government, opened ways for right-left election alliance. Demirel was influential in decision of the New Turkey Party (YTP) and Democratic Turkey Party (DTP) to enter elections with joint list.
YTP leader Cem and DTP leader Mehmet Ali Bayar put their signatures for a first in Turkish history. Rightist DTP and leftist YTP will go to the votes with only one list. Thus, foundations of ''civilization alliance'' was laid.
Demirel talked with Cem and Bayar and encouraged them for a historical cooperation.
BOMB TRANSFER
The Grand Unity Party (BBP) which could not get treasury aid so far as it has two parliamentarians in the parliament, made Edip Ozbas join the BBP. Thus, the BBP increased its number of chairs to three, and got the right to obtain 2.2 trillion lira aid from the Treasury.
Ozbas, who resigned from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), was an independent deputy for sometime.

SERIOUS ACCUSATION TO YILMAZ
Motherland Party (ANAP) Isparta Deputy Erkan Mumcu harshly criticized ANAP leader Mesut Yilmaz. Mumcu said that the Turkish democracy has been tried to be destroyed last three months and added, ''the government was tried to be destroyed from the inside.'' Mumcu gave a signal that he could leave his party.
RESIGNATION TIME IS OVER
The time for the resignation of the public workers which want to be a deputy candidate ended. Parliament Secretary General Vahit Erdem left his post to be a candidate from Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Public Works Ministry Undersecretary Ali Helvaci resigned to be a candidate from Nationaliast Movement Party (MHP), Customs Undersecretary Nevzat Saygilioglu left his position to be a candidate from Motherland Party (ANAP) and Revenues Director General Akif Hamzacebi left his post to be candidate from Republican People's Party (CHP). Ambassador Onur Oymen who also resigned is expected to be a candidate from CHP.

FIRST LOVE, FIRST ALLIANCE IN POLITICS
New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem and Democrat Turkey Party (DTP) leader Mehmet Ali Bayar made a joint statement and said, ''we reached an agreement on principles. Official committees of the two parties will examine the decision and a working group will be formed to determine the alliance conditions.'' Cem and Bayar reached an agreement to form an alliance after the meeting which lasted for one and a half hour. Bayar said that they would want authority from their parties' organs to shape the cooperation during election and after it.
40 DUTIES FROM IMF
International Monetary Fund (IMF), which approved the additional letter of intent on Turkey's third review and 1.1 U.S. dollars of loan tranche for Turkey, indicated period after the election as target for new legal regulations and did not give long time to new government. The letter of intent, which was signed by State Minister Kemal Dervis and Central Bank Governor Sureyya Serdengecti, stressed that macro targets including inflation and growth will be realized. The date of some legal regulations was changed because of early election.

MUMCU'S PROPOSAL TO LEFT AND RIGHT
Motherland Party (ANAP) deputy leader Erkan Mumcu who brought a new proposal to the alliance said, ''the right parties can come together under Democrat Party (DP), and left parties can form alliance under Republican People's Party (CHP).'' Mumcu evaluated the latest developments and said that there should be unity between right and left parties to catch political and economic stability.
CRACK IN SECURITY
An agreement on the legalization of job security bill was reached between the government and workers' unions. The bill is decided to go into effect on March 15, 2003. However, workers who want this date as May 1 are expected to react to that decision. Bayram Meral, the Chairman of Confederation of Turkish Labour Unions (Turk-Is), said before the decision that prime minister was very determined to pass the job security bill. Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that the bill which was being discussed at Parliament would be in effect after a few months.

YILMAZ PROPOSES NEW GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE
Deputy Prime Minister and Motherland Party (ANAP) leader Mesut Yilmaz is working to form a platform to enter the elections as a block against Justice and Development Party (AK Party). Yilmaz who continued his political alliance works launched initiatives for a new government structure which will delay November 3 early elections. Yilmaz is working to form a new government model including True Path Party (DYP), ANAP and New Turkey Party (YTP).
BBP TO GIVE ELECTION AID TO MARTYRS' FAMILIES
Grand Unity Party (BBP) won the right to take election financial aid which is 2,8 trillion Turkish liras (TL) since Kahramanmaras deputy Edip Ozbas who resigned from Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) joined BBP. BBP said that they would donate this aid to martyrs' families.
