ANKARA (A.A) - 09.08.2002 - State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced on Friday the number of unemployed people in Turkey as 2,217,000 according to the 2002 second quarter temporary results.
DIE announced the results of the second quarter of 2002 Household Labour Force Survey which was adapted by International Labor Organization's (ILO) definitions.
In the second quarter of 2002, the number of employee became 20 million 869 thousand.
According to the survey, the unemployment rate became 9.6 percent and total labor force participation rate became 49.6 percent in Turkey.
The number of unemployed people which was 1,567,000 in second quarter of 2001 increased to 2,217,000 in the same period of 2002.
