ANKARA (A.A) - 08.08.2002 - The leaders of the political parties forming the government said that they remained fully committed to the program in the letter they sent to International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Horst Koehler.
The letter sent to IMF Managing Director Koehler on July 31, 2002 and which appeared on the web-site of the Treasury Undersecretariat was signed by Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, and Deputy Prime Ministers Devlet Bahceli and Mesut Yilmaz.
In the letter, the leaders said, ''the parliament has taken a decision to hold early elections at the beginning of November. The government will be in the office until a new government is formed after the early elections.''
''Even so, the government and its economic team are committed to completing all technical preparations for such legislation, and to submit such legislation to parliament, according to the timetable outlined in this letter. On this basis, we request that the third review under the Stand-by Agreement be completed,'' the leaders noted.
