Cem Says His Party Gives Trust To Society As It Represents Renewal

ANKARA (A.A) - 07.08.2002 - New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem said on Tuesday that his party gives trust to society as it represents renewal and breaking off ties with the old.
Cem who attended a tv programme in private NTV channel, said that his party had many problems, but it will overcome all these problems in the end and come to power.
Describing the place of YTP in political frame as the coalition of the modern majority, Cem said that a limited political movement will not solve the problems today if an alliance is not set up in the society.
Noting that it is wrong to make political definitions such as ''right, left and centre'' Cem said that his party tries to make an alliance among tradesmen, villagers, retired persons, civil servants and entrepreneurs.
Upon a question, Cem stressed that he believed YTP will become more powerful when State Minister Kemal Dervis joins their party.
Cem stressed that the EU adjustment laws which were adopted in the parliament have to be put into practice, adding that he believed that they would get the best result for Turkey in Copenhagen summit due to the personal relations he had during his five-year term in office as the foreign minister.
Cem stressed that the Cyprus issue can be sorted out until Copenhagen summit together with the EU membership process and that the TRNC was open to a solution. Cem stressed that Turkey won't nevertheless accept solutions that will endanger Turkey, and the Turkish existence in Cyprus.
Cem noted that Turkey has the most important problems of unproductivity, unemployment and inequality, adding that foreign investment is also needed in Turkey.
