Y.S.K. Sets Outlines Of Election Schedule

ANKARA (A.A) - 04.08.2002 - The Higher Board of Elections (YSK) set outlines of schedule of the early elections to be held on November 3, 2002.
The beginning date of the parliamentary elections was set as August 7.
Public officials who will become candidates in the elections will resign from their posts till 5.00 p.m. on August 8.
The YSK stated that 23 out of 48 political parties could join the elections.
YSK officials said that number of political parties to participate in the early elections could change due to possible changes in laws.
Election campaigns will start on October 23, 2002.
Beginning on August 7, verbal and visual press organs will not be allowed to made broadcastings including public surveys, polls, estimations that can affect thoughts of voters.
Political parties and candidates will not be allowed to distribute any gifts except for handbills and pamphlets presented to introduce themselves.
Lists of voters will be announced on August 9.
