Turkey Welcomes Iraqi Invitation To Arms Inspector

ANKARA (A.A) - 02.08.2002 - Turkey welcomed Iraq's invitation to U.N. chief weapons inspector Hans Blix to visit Baghdad for technical talks.
A high-level Foreign Ministry official said on Friday that they were pleased with Baghdad's decision on inviting chief arms inspector, adding, ''this is what we have been defending since the beginning.''
Recalling that Ankara had expressed its warnings about this issue for several times on various occasions, the official said that they had always conveyed Baghdad their opinion that ''you should open your doors to inspectors, saving both your lives and your people's lives.''
