Number Of Tourists Visiting Cappadocia Decreases

NEVSEHIR (A.A) - 02.08.2002 - The number of tourists who visit Cappadocia region, which is one of the important touristic centers of Turkey, decreased this year when compared to last year.
Officials told the A.A on Friday that 700,821 tourists visited Cappadocia in the first seven months of 2002.
In the same period last year, 781,302 tourists had visited the region.
A total of 314,056 foreign tourists and 386,765 domestic tourists visited Goreme Open Air Museum, Zelve ruins, Cavusin and Gulsehir St. Jean Churches, Gulsehir Open Air ruins, Mazi, Tatlarin, Ozkonak, Kaymakli and Derinkuyu underground cities in January-July 2002.
According to the statistics, the number of foreign tourists visiting Cappadocia decreased while the number of domestic tourists increased.
