Denktas Meets With Clerides

LEFKOSA (A.A) - 02.08.2002 - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) came together with Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides in the buffer zone on Friday.
Addressing journalists prior to the meeting, President Denktas said that they would listen to views of the Greek Cypriot side about the issue of land.
When asked whether or not they received an invitation from the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Committee for an open discussion, President Denktas told reporters that they had received such an invitation and responded the EU Foreign Affairs Committee's invitation in the affirmative.
Following today's meeting between President Denktas and Clerides, the fifth round of direct talks process will be completed, and the process will be recessed for nearly three weeks.
