ISTANBUL (A.A) - 30.07.2002 - Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said on Tuesday, ''recent achievements in exports are pleasing and promising in regard to Turkey's future.''
Prime Minister Ecevit attended the ordinary general congress of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) through the system of teleconference.
Ecevit said, ''increase in export means increase in production. Therefore, our exporters have been making an important contribution to our economy. As a result of efforts expended by our exporters, quality of the goods also increased. In the past, number of countries to which Turkey exported goods, was limited. However, Turkey has begun to export goods to all parts of the world during the 57th government's period. We are proud of all these developments. Meanwhile, important opportunities were provided in our exports to the United States.''
''During my visit to the United States in the beginning of the year, important decisions were taken to further improve commercial relations between the our countries. Preparatory works have been under way to form qualified industrial zones in Turkey. I believe that Turkey's exports to the United States will increase considerably in the coming years,'' he said.
Prime Minister Ecevit added, ''recent achievements in exports are pleasing and promising in regard to Turkey's future.''
