ECEVIT'S TWO FEARS
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit expressed his two concerns during a meeting he had with ministers from his party. His first concern is regarding developments in Iraq and Cyprus that could threaten Turkey's security. Ecevit's second fear is regarding the elections. He thinks that People's Democratic Party (HADEP) and Justice and Development Party (AK) could gain power in Parliament. Ecevit believes that this could disrupt the balances in the country.

TURKISH MAKE-UP TO ARAB BANKS
After Sept 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, Arab banks started taking lessons from Turkish consultants in order to get rid of the image of ''financers of terrorism.'' Ozlem Cakir will recover the image of Arab banks. She has given lessons to CEOs of 20 Arab banks including how they should talk, dress and even shake hands.

2003 TURKEY YEAR IN JAPAN
Japan will celebrate the year 2003 as Turkey year. For that reason the Japanese government started a mobilization campaign which was not seen before. This campaign is carried out by former Japanese ambassador to Turkey Atsuko Toyama, who is now the Japanese Minister in charge of Education, Culture, Sports Science and Technology.

ECEVIT MIGHT SURPRISE
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit who had a meeting with ministers and executives from the Democratic Left Party (DSP) claimed that having early elections on Nov. 3 would be a ''disaster.'' He also stated that remaining in the government was not so important for him. Warning that the Justice and Development Party (AK) and the People's Democratic Party (HADEP) might gain significant power in Parliament, Ecevit proposed to postpone elections for a certain period of time. Under the
bylaw, Parliament cannot take election decision if Ecevit resigns.

CEM KINAY STARTS SAFE COUNTRY CAMPAIGN FOR TURKEY
Magic Life Chairman Cem Kinay is getting ready for a big operation these days. He will bring some 6,000 members of press and tour operators to Turkey as of November. Kinay is trying to prove to the world that Turkey is a safe country for tourists even in case of a possible U.S. operation against Iraq.

ECEVIT SAYS ELECTION ON NOV. 3 CAN BE DISASTER
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit who came together with his ministers and DSP administrators on Saturday, said that if elections are held on November 3, this will be disaster. ''Let's do everything to prevent the elections,'' told Ecevit to them. Ecevit also plans to hold leaders summit soon.

POWELL WISHES SUCCESS TO CEM
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell called former Foreign Minister Ismail Cem who is now the leader of New Turkey Party on the phone and wished him success. Powell told Cem that he wished Cem to show the success he had in diplomacy also in politics. Many other foreign ministers also called Cem and wished him success.

DENKTAS AND PAPAPETRU AGREE THAT AGREEMENT IN CYPRUS IS NOT EASY
President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Rauf Denktas has said that the Cyprus Republic which was established with 1960 agreements was a partnership republic. The partnership collapsed in 1963. Greek Cypriot Administration Spokesman Mihalis Papapetru said no progress was made during the talks. He claimed that Denktas reversed all the progress that was made. ''We're back to where we started,'' Papapetru said.

YTP LEADER CEM SAYS HIS PARTY WILL EMBRACE ALL SECTORS OF TURKISH SOCIETY
New Turkey Party (TYP) leader Ismail Cem said ''We haven't yet started talking, we haven't said everything. We'll soon explain how we'll bring a solution to the problems that we say we'll resolve.''
Cem also remarked that he had a telephone conversation with State Minister Kemal Dervis.
''We're in contact with all sectors of the Turkish society. We won't impose our own solutions to problems but we'll discuss it with related groups. We'll be open to suggestions,'' Cem said.

ERBAKAN DIDN'T CHANGE MUCH
Leader of the outlawed Welfare Party (RP) Necmettin Erbakan who has a political ban used an aggressive terminology during his speeches and frequently pronounced worlds such as ''jihad'' and ''killing.''
''It's simple as that. The cruel ones will die in the end,'' Erbakan angrily said at a recent meeting organized by Milli Gazete in Balikesir. Many people applauded Erbakan while booed Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Melih Gokcek. Erbakan said that the Felicity Party (SP) is like a factory, ''it takes Muslims and gives them awareness.''

ECEVIT:''WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO PASS EU ADJUSTMENT LAWS''
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit stated that his party would do its best to pass EU adjustment Laws. He also remarked that Parliament would fail to carry out its legislative duties if an early election decision is taken. Ecevit also said that he hadn't recently talked with State Minister Kemal Dervis who is in the United States.

BAHCELI:ONLY SOLUTION IS ELECTION
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli who attended the foundation laying ceremony of a vocational school in Kelkit town of northern Gumushane province yesterday said that elections have to be held in Turkey in order to have a powerful government which will be able to undertake reforms in economic and social fields and to solve the problems of Turkey.

FUNNY AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS
Citizens reacted to the one billion liras of aid given to citizens who lost their relatives or whose houses collapsed in the flood disaster in northern Rize province. In Rize there are still four missing people.

MORE IRAQIS FLEE DUE TO POSSIBILITY OF U.S. OPERATION IN IRAQ
Edirne Deputy Security Director Hasan Ozcan stated that there was a significant increase in the number of Iraqis who get caught on the border in the last one month because of the possibility of a U.S. operation in Iraq.
''A total of 446 Iraqis were caught in June when they tried to pass the border to Greece or Bulgaria. News in newspapers and on television about a possible U.S. operation against Iraq are causing this increase,'' he said.
