KOC HOLDING'S DEMIRDOKUM TO SET UP FACTORY IN CHINA
Turk DemirDokum, one of the companies of Koc Group, will dismantle its steel radiotor factory in Bozuyuk and carry it to China in 44 containers. Sebastian Man, Chairman of Chung Mei, Demirdokum's partner in China, said that this factory whcih will be set up in two months is ''just a beginnning.'' A partnership agreement was recently signed in Istanbul between DemirDokum and Chung Mei which is based in Hong Kong.

SURPRISING DEVELOPMENT IN TURKEY'S ATTACK HELICOPTER PROJECT
Turkey made a surprising u-turn in the attack helicopter production projectworth of 4 billion USD. For two years, Turkey has been in contact with the U.S. Bell Textron company which is the producer of King Cobra. Now, Turkey is negotiating with Russian-Israeli partnership which is the producer of Kamoc Ka50/2 helicopters.

------------------OZKAN SAYS DERVIS IS WITH THEM
Husamettin Ozkan, the former deputy prime minister and the founding member of the New Turkey Party said that State Minister Kemal Dervis was supporting their party and he would join the party sooner or later. ''We speak to Dervis almost everyday, no body should dream of getting him from us,'' he said. Ozkan remarked that the target of the New Turkey Party is to embrace all sectors of the society and to bring prosperity to them. The leader of the New Turkey Party Ismail Cem, and Ozkan will meet with Dervis who will return to Turkey from the U.S. on Tuesday.

OZDEMIR GIVES UP POLITICS
Cem Ozdemir, a German deputy of the Greens Party who is of Turkish origin gave up politics. Ozdemir held a news conference yesterday saying that he gave up his post of being the spokesman of the party and politics. It was found out that Ozdemir got cheap credit from Moritz Hunzinger, a businessman and the owner of a public relations company.

HEAVY RAIN TO SHIFT TO AEGEAN REGION
Heavy rain and floods which killed 27 people in the Black Sea region is now expected to shift to Aegean region. Meteorology officials warned people living in this region and asked them to be cautious starting Sunday.
Last week, a total of 27 people died in the floods and there are four others still missing in Rize's Guneysu and Cayeli areas. The Red Crescent sent a large number of tents, blankets and sleeping bags to the area. However the tents couldn't be set up because of continuing rain and mud.

FINANCIAL ZERO YEAR AT RISK BECAUSE OF ELECTIONS
Because of the early elections, the implementation of a number of laws have been delayed including the tax reform and 2003 budget. Under the current conditions, it doesn't look possible to complete the tax reform until Jan.1, 2003 as it was earlier scheduled. Finance Ministry officials told the IMF that Turkey could complete its financial reforms in the first quarter of next year and the IMF said this was understandable considering Turkey's circumstances.

WEAPONS OF NOVEMBER 17 ARE IN TURKEY
Feyzullah Arslan, the Spokesman of Security Directorate General said that there was a connection between the Greek terrorist organization November 17 and Turkish terrorist organization DHKP-C and that the two organizations were involved in arm smuggling. Arslan noted that the weapons which the Greek terrorist organization November 17 stole from Greek army were seized in Turkey.

NEW STRATEGY WITH U.S.
The National Security Council discussed the Iraqi policy of Turkey in its last meeting. The possible U.S. operation in Iraq will also necessitate the re-definition of the strategic partnership relation between Turkey and the U.S. Turkey will want to get advantages in return to the economic and political support it will extend to the operation.

If the EU integration process speeds up, Turkey will relax, but the political parties are still after political tactics rather than getting an agreement on the EU adjustment laws package.

FLOOD KILLS 27 PERSONS IN RIZE
The total number of persons who died in Rize, Yozgat, Corum, Tokat, Mus and Kars provinces due to flood disaster reached 39. The death toll is 27 in Rize province which was hit by the flood the most. Efforts are underway to search for four missing people. In Rize, 68 village roads are closed and communication with 19 villages has been cut off. A total of 148 work machines try to remove the debris and open the roads to traffic. The governor's office decided to give one billion Turkish liras each to families whose houses collapsed or who lost their relatives.

GIANT AMERICAN SHIP COMES TO MARMARIS
The U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy came to Marmaris port town of Aegean Sea province Mugla yesterday. The JFK which has nearly 4,700 crew entered the Marmaris Gulf accompanied by two helicopters. Sources said that the crew of the JFK that had departed from the United States in January 2002 had never stepped on land until they arrived at Marmaris port. Aircraft carrier's commander Vice-Admiral Steven Tomaszeski visited Marmaris Head Official Isa Kucuk and Mayor Ismet Karadinc. Speaking at the meeting, Kucuk said that the United States is a friendly ally of Turkey and that they would be pleased to host JFK's crew in Marmaris for four days.

CEM SAYS TARGET OF HIS PARTY IS TO BECOME NUMBER ONE IN TURKEY
New Turkey Party leader Ismail Cem said that his party would be the number one party in the early elections that would be held soon. Addressing to the Financial Times newspaper published in the U.K., Cem said that his party wants to become the number one party. The Financial Times commented that the success of the new party depended on State Minister Kemal Dervis's joining the party.

U.S. SOLDIERS IN MARMARIS
John F. Kennedy, a U.S. aircraft carrier came to Marmaris port with its 4,700 personnel last week. The ship which left the United States in Jan., 2002 reached land for the first time after seven months. Ship commander Steven Tomaszeski visited Marmaris head official Isa Kucuk and Mayor Ismet Karadinc. The U.S. soldiers who will stay for four days in Marmaris are expected to spend about 10 million US dollars in the city.

TURKEY TO GET 300 MILLION USD EDUCATION CREDIT FOR WORLD BANK
Turkey and the World Bank signed a 300 million USD credit for the second Basic Education Project yesterday. Treasury Undersecretary Faik Oztrak who signed the agreement on behalf of the Turkish government said that the share of education and health expenses in Turkey's budget is increasing. He indicated that the 300 million USD will be spent for elementary school education. The credit will be used to build sports facilities, laboratories, computers and other services.
