U.S. Congress Approves I.S.A.F. Assistance To Turkey

WASHINGTON D.C. (A.A) - 26.07.2002 - Following the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate approved on Friday a financial source of 228 million U.S. dollars to Turkey for undertaking command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
The financial source which was included in the United States' package of 28.9 billion U.S. dollars for the fight against terrorism, is expected to be submitted to the President George W. Bush's office for approval.
Bush is envisaged to approve the package of the fight against terrorism.
Later, the law will come to the force, and Turkey will be given a financial source of 228 million U.S. dollars.
Sources said that 28 million U.S. dollars of the source would be sent to meet military spendings regarded with the ISAF while the remaining 200 million U.S. dollars would be given to Turkey as an economic support.
