Sezer: Lausanne Treaty Opened Doors Of Free And Modern Life To Turkish Nation

ANKARA (A.A) - 24.07.2002 - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer has said that Lausanne Treaty opened the doors of free and contemporary life to Turkish nation on its territories.
President Sezer released a message on Wednesday to mark 79th anniversary of the signing of the Lausanne Treaty.
Presidential Press Center said that Sezer said Turkish nation showed its determination to have an independent life to the world with the successes of Turkish people at National Independence War under the leadership of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Stressing that the treaty was the document of honor of the National Independence War, Sezer said that Turkish delegation which attended the meetings on behalf of Parliament between November 20, 1922 and July 24, 1923 under the chairmanship of great statesman Ismet Inonu protected benefits of Turkish nation fastidiously.
President Sezer said that the agreement which was signed in Lausanne had the feature of rearranging Turkish state's political, legal, economic and social relations at international level.
''I commemorate Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and great statesman Ismet Inonu and delegation members who successfully concluded Lausanne Treaty talks,'' Sezer added.
ECEVIT: LAUSANNE TREATY ENSURED TURKEY TO TAKE PART AMONG WORLD COUNTRIES
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit has said, ''Lausanne Treaty, which is the victory of both the military and also politics for our nation, confirmed our state's independence and sovereignty and ensured Turkey to take part in the world countries.''
Ecevit said that the state which adopted peace at home, peace in the world principle continued to be a peace, confidence and stability factor in its region after 79 years.
Ecevit added, ''I would like to congratulate Turkish citizens at the 79th anniversary of the signing of the Lausanne Treaty. I commemorate Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and great statesman Ismet Inonu who successfully concluded Lausanne Treaty talks.''
IZGI: LAUSANNE TREATY IS A DIPLOMATIC VICTORY
Parliament Speaker Omer Izgi released a message on Wednesday to mark 79th anniversary of the signing of the Lausanne Treaty.
Stressing that the treaty was the document of honor of the National Independence War, Izgi said that the Lausanne Treaty was a diplomatic victory which provided approval and acceptance of historic victories of the Turkish nation in battlefields during the Independence War.
''Under this treaty, our national frontiers were drawn up and our nation's sovereignty and independence rights were taken under guarantee after lifting the capitulations given to foreigners and our state gained military, political and economic freedom,'' he said.
''On this meaningful day, I commemorate Great Ledaer Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and great statesman Ismet Inonu and delegation members who successfully concluded Lausanne Treaty talks,'' he added.
