HERE IS THE BOMBER
Greek security forces which have launched an operation against November 17 terrorist organization, captured the terrorist who staged the bomb attack and injured Turkish diplomat Deniz Bolukbasi on July 16, 1991. Vasilis Corcatos confessed that he had staged the bomb attack on the automobile of then Undersecretary of Turkish Embassy in Athens Bolukbasi. It was revealed that Corcatos was involved in eight murders, a number of bomb and armed attacks.

TOSKAY: ''WE WILL EXCEED OUR TARGETS IN EXPORT''
State Minister Tunca Toskay said exports from Turkey would exceed the target of 32 billion U.S. dollars, and rose to 33.5-34 billion U.S. dollars in 2002. He said that exports increased 4.3 percent in January, 18.3 percent in March, 7.7 percent in April, 7.1 percent in May and 5.2 percent in June while exports decreased 7.2 percent in February.

ONE TURKISH SOLDIER SLIGHTLY INJURED IN AFGHANISTAN
One Turkish non-commissioned officer was slightly injured as a fuse exploded during mine sweeping in a military base in Kabul, Afghanistan. International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Press Spokesman Murat Pekgulec said that the accident occurred on Thursday morning and that the health of the non-commissioned officer was not critical. There are around 100 thousand unexploded ammunitions at Kabul airport.

WE ALL SUFFER A SERIOUS DAMAGE
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that he could not satisfy with decision taken at this week's meeting among leaders of three coalition parties forming the coalition government to hold early elections on November 3. He stressed that the coalition parties would suffer a serious damage in the elections because they could not prove results of the laws, which were adopted during the 57th government's period, to people.

46TH POLITICAL PARTY FOUNDED
The Republican Democracy Party (CDP) was founded officially. The CDP became the 46th political party of Turkey. Yekta Gungor Ozden, the former chief judge of the Constitutional Court, will serve as leader of the CDP.

TANRIKULU WINS SILVER MEDAL
The 17th World Taekwondo Cup ended in Japanese capital Tokyo. Bahri Tanrikule of Turkey competing in men's 84 kg category, was beaten by his Iranian opponent Karami in the final, and won silver medal. Meanwhile, Turkey won two silver and one bronze medals in the cup.

''WE COMMITTED SUICIDE''
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that the early elections would cause a serious damage to the coalition parties. Prime Minister Ecevit said, ''on numerous occasion, I said that elections should be held in April of 2004. Because, our people will begin to feel positive changes stemmed from our implementations. The coalietion partners were also defending to hold the elections in 2004. However, a decision was taken suddenly to hold the elections in November of 2002. ''

NEW POLITICAL PARTY TO BE FOUNDED ON MONDAY
Members of the new formation who resigned from the Democratic Left Party (DSP) prepared a democratic by-law. Leader of the party will be elected once in every year. The leader can be elected only four times. As a result, leader of the party can serve only eight years. There will be two deputy chairmen. Husamettin Ozkan and State Minister Kemal Dervis are expected to become deputy chairmen of the new formation. Meanwhile, the new party will be founded officially on Monday.

THEY CONFESS ATTACK ON BOLUKBASI
It has become definite that Alexandros Giotopoulos who was interrogated in Athens is the head of the November 17 terrorist organization. Although Giotopoulos who uses ''Lambros'' as his code-name denies charges against him, his fingerprints were found on documents sent by the terrorist organization. When Greek police had confessor Ksiros meet Giotopoulos face to face, he identified Giotopoulos by saying, ''boss, it's over. Confess, the game is over.'' Meanwhile, it was understood that November 17 terrorist Vasilis Geoergiadis was responsible for the bomb attack against Turkish Embassy in Athens First Undersecretary Deniz Bolukbasi who was injured in that bomb attack.

WE WANT PEACE
Non-governmental organizations reacted to the United States which is planning to launch an operation against Iraq. NGOs stressed that the problem should be solved through a peaceful method. Noting that possibility of a war would decrease if Turkey opposed to war, they warned that only civilians would suffer from the war. Defending that an operation against Iraq had been deliberately brought onto the agenda during a period when a political instability had started in Turkey, NGOs said, ''a war changes the region into hell. Use of force is not the only way to bring democracy. An operation would be beneficial only to the U.S. arms dealers.''

CEM: ''OUR PARTY WILL NOT BE A PARTY OF LEADER''
Ismail Cem who resigned as the foreign minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) deputy, said, ''we will rebuild Turkey. This will be our slogan. Leader of the new formation can remain in the office only for eight years.'' Cem stressed that they did not invite anyone to resign from the DSP.

GUREL GOES TO TRNC
Newly appointed Foreign Minister Sukru Sina Gurel and Naval Forces Commander Admiral Bulent Alpkaya went to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). They will represent Turkey in the ceremonies to be held to mark the 28th anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation.

TURKEY TO EXTEND CONDITIONAL SUPPORT
During a summit meeting held at the Cankaya Presidential Palace on Thursday, it was decided to extend conditional support to the United States about a possible military operation against Iraq. Turkey's benefits will be given priority in such a case.

SCENES FROM ANKARA
People get confused more when the statements that were made one day before contradict with the statements that were made the day after. Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said on July 16: ''we withdraw from the government if number of the coalition's seats in the parliament decreases below 276.'' But he said on July 17: ''our government continues, the opposition must collapse it.'' State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli said on July 12: ''if Kemal Dervis does not like it, he can quit.'' But he said on July 15: ''Dervis's situation is up to the Prime Minister's discretion.'' Felicity Party (SP) leader Recai Kutan said on July 8: ''what kind of a government will be replaced if this government resigns?'' But he said on July 19: ''SP presented a censure motion to collapse the government.'' Higher Board of Elections Chairman Tufan Algan said on July 17: ''it is impossible for us to finish preparations for early elections on November 3.'' But he said on July 18: ''we don't have any problem regarding November 3.''

THERE'S NOT ANY OBSTACLE IN FRONT OF MY CANDIDACY
Necmettin Erbakan, former leader of outlawed Welfare Party (RP), defended that there was not any legal obstacle in front of his independent candidacy in early elections. He said that there was restriction only in membership to a political party.

''THERE IS NO TURNING BACK FROM EARLY ELECTIONS''
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer expressed his satisfaction over the decision taken by leaders of three political parties forming the coalition to hold early elections on November 3. He said that there was no turning back from the early elections. President Sezer stressed that all problems and the uncertainty could be overcome with people's will. President Sezer emphasized that the parliament should be called on to hold an extraordinary meeting to adopt the drafts regarded with the European Union (EU).
