Satici: A Probable Operation On Iraq Will Hit Turkey's Trade In Region

ANKARA (A.A) - 19.07.2002 - Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) Chairman Oguz Satici said on Friday that a probable U.S. operation on Iraq would hit Turkey's trade in the region.
Satici told A.A correspondent that to this end, measures which would compensate Turkey's losses had to be taken.
Besides negative impact of a probable U.S. operation on Iraq on Turkey's trade, it would make other trade partners of Turkey uneasy, Satici said.
Satici noted, ''what we recommend is that Turkey should not pay the cost of this as it did in the Gulf War. Those who want to stage this operation have to take measures to compensate Turkey's losses. One of the leading measures is the qualified industrial zones planned to be set up in Turkey. An agreement covering all sectors has to be made.''
Despite certain political uncertainties, the business world continued to work intensively, Satici stated.
Satici said that they thought that production would solve political, social and economic uncertainties and added that to this end, they continued to produce and make exportation.
