Seventeen U.S. Congress Members Present Resolution Stressing Turkey's Support To International Fight Against Terrorism

WASHINGTON D.C. (A.A) - 19.07.2002 - Seventeen members of the U.S. Congress presented on Friday a resolution, stressing Turkey's cooperation in international fight against terrorism, its undertaking command of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan and economic reform initiatives, to the House of Representatives.
The resolution presented by Democrat Party Marlyand parliamentarian Albert Wynn was supported by 16 other members of the Congress.
The resolution said that Turkey was the first Muslim country which proposed military support to the U.S. operation in Afghanistan and that Incirlik Base was used within this scope.
The resolution noted that Turkey laid the foundation of a strong economy with efficient financial policies and reforms in banking system.
Making more investments and establishing more commercial links with Turkey was for the benefit of the United States, the resolution stressed.
Republican Party parliamentarians Doug Bereuter, Dan Burton and Robert Wexler of Democrat Party are among congress members who have supported the resolution.
