ANKARA (A.A) - 18.07.2002 - State Minister Kemal Dervis said after having a dinner with former Deputy Prime Minister Husamettin Ozkan and former Foreign Minister Ismail Cem that they give support to each other.
''I will continue to support my friends,'' told Dervis to reporters after the dinner.
Noting that they try to do the best for Turkey, Dervis said that ''we search the best way of that. We evaluate the various choices and approaches. We must not hurry, we must not make mistake.''
''Certainly the parliament will decide on the date of early elections. The clarification of this issue is important for economy. The basic economic factors are not bad. Exports and tourism are going fine. We don't have any difficulty about foreign exchange. We must take all of them into consideration. We give support to each other and we search for a common solution,'' Dervis said.
Noting that the problems in the economy became heavier due to the recent political uncertainity, Dervis said that the interest rates which increased during the last two months brought a burden on economy and growth have to come true to decrease this burden.
Dervis said that if the growth in economy can't be ensured, whoever comes to power, Turkey will suffer in the end.
Ismail Cem said in his part that they evaluate the developments together, adding that ''we shared the views of common mind for further development of Turkey.''
