ANKARA (IHA) - Chief Rabbi David Asseo's body was buried Wednesday in a Jewish cemetery in Ulus district of Istanbul after the funeral ceremony at Neve Shalom synagogue. Heavy security measures were stepped up to prevent any violence during the ceremony. His daughters, Sara Mizrahi and Fortune Asseo, were present at the synagogue.Turkey's ailing Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and deputy Prime Minister, the leader of Motherland Party, Mesut Yilmaz, sent a wreath to the funeral ceremony that top Turkish officials took part. The Orthodox spiritual leader Patriarch Bartholomeos was one of the prominent figure who arrived at the synagogue for the funeral.
