ANKARA (A.A) - 17.07.2002 - Deniz Baykal, the leader of the Republic People's Party (CHP) said on Wednesday that Turkey went through a very critical period, adding that it is the mission of every political party to help the government in taking the problems under control.
State Minister Kemal Dervis visited CHP leader Baykal and they had a meeting which lasted for 2,5 hours the same day.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Baykal said that Dervis explained him the economic situation in the country and the repercussion of the decision taken to hold early elections on economy, adding that the meeting was a very useful one. Baykal said that Dervis is a close friend of him.
State Minister Dervis said in his part that they reviewed the recent political developments with CHP leader Baykal. Dervis said that Baykal is his friend for 35 years.
''I asked him to help us in preventing the occurance of any problem in the economy,'' he said.
