ANKARA (A.A)- 16.07.2002 - Ismail Cem, who resigned from his post as the foreign minister and the Democratic Left Party (DSP) last week, said on Tuesday, ''we aim at turning Turkey's all modern accumulations into a modern majority government on the basis of social democracy.''
Releasing a statement entitled, ''New Formation's Target is to Renew Turkey'', Cem said, ''depending on universal values of the humanity, common values, Turkey's historical desire to renew itself, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's light, the past of national struggle, reforms of the Republic and democracy, principle of secularism, our people's demands for freedom and equality, and understandings of justice and solidarity in our religious life; the new formation is a political formation aiming at protecting initiative, production and labor, creating an influential, peaceful and powerful state based on a fair social order, turning Turkey's all modern accumulations into a modern majority government on the basis of social democracy, and providing our people with the best by embracing whole Turkey.''
