ISTANBUL (A.A) - 16.07.2002 - True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller said on Tuesday that the recent developments in the country showed that Turkey has been indexed to early elections, adding that ''we must be very happy about it.''
Responding to questions of journalists, Ciller said that the government will not stay in power anymore, adding that a decision has to be taken immediately to hold the elections.
Ciller said that political parties have to support DYP's proposal of opening the parliament on July 22.
Responding to a question about a possible operation against Iraq, Ciller said that Turkey does not want war and Turkey lost 40-50 billion dollars in the last operation against Iraq.
''If a good expert team comes to power in Turkey, the latter can come over the difficult times. In that respect, this government should not stay in power,'' she said.
